Skin Lesion/ Cyst Removal
Soft tissue masses, both benign and malignant occur in many parts of the body. These can occur in many types of tissue including connective tissue, fat, skin, and muscle. They can be solid masses or fluid-filled cysts. Depending on the location and consistency of the mass, surgery will differ. The masses are sent to a pathologist for biopsy to determine their origin. If the masses are found to be malignant, further surgery and other treatments may be indicated. During consultation, Mr Karametos will assess your condition and provide specific treatment/ surgery plan.
Carpal Tunnel Release Surgery
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome is a common, painful, progressive condition that is caused by compression of the median nerve at the wrist area. Common symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome include numbness and tingling sensation in all the fingers except little finger; pain and burning sensation in hand and wrist that may radiate up the arm and elbow; and weakness in hand with diminished grip strength Exact causes of the condition are not known. However certain factors increase the risk of developing carpal tunnel syndrome and they include congenital abnormalities, repetitive motion of hand and wrists, fractures and sprains, hormonal imbalance, and other medical conditions such as hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, obesity, gout, overactive pituitary gland, or the presence of a cyst or tumor in the canal.
Mr Karametos treats carpal tunnel syndrome using minimally invasive approach, which involves a <1cm incision. During the surgery, the flexor retinaculum will be dissected to release the pressure on the median nerve and enlarge the carpal tunnel.

Ingrown Toenail Surgery
An ingrown toenail happens when one of your toenails grows into and pierces the skin at the sides of your nail. It can be extremely painful or lead to infections. Sometimes the problem can be solved by cutting your toenails straight across to stop them digging into the surrounding skin, gently pushing the skin away from the nail using a cotton bud. However, in some cases surgery is the only solution.
During the ingrown toenail surgery Mr Karametos carefully removes part of the nail. Part of the underlying nail bed or nail growth matrix needs to be removed so part the nail will not grow back and then the solution is permanent. It is usually performed as a day-case procedure using local anaesthesia with sedation, so you won’t feel anything.
After the operation Mr Karametos performed there is no pain or minimal pain. Wearing open-toed shoes for the first few days will also help.
